     Otho Brashear was born on 25 October 1793 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Reginald Brashear and Elizabeth Brown. Otho Brashear began military service on 8 November 1814 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, as a Private in Captain Valentine Giesey's Company of Pennsylvania Volunteers, attached to the 1 Reg't Maryland Militia. During his time of volunteer service Otho was paid a total of 16.77 for 2 months and 3 days service between 8 November 1814 and 10 January 1815 and 17.95 for 1 month and 30 days service between 11 January 1815 and 9 March 1915. He ended military service on 24 February 1815 in Annapolis, Maryland. He was a veteran of War of 1812 on 25 February 1815.

Otho Brashear died on 24 March 1850 in Ohio at age 56.
